Bord na Móna submit planning application for proposed windfarm in Co. Longford.

Bord na Móna has submitted a planning application to An Bord Pleanála for the proposed 96 megawatts Derryadd windfarm. The proposed development will be situated on cutaway peatlands on Derryadd, Derryaroge and Lough Bannow bogs located in South Co. Longford. 

The project will consist of 24 wind turbines with a maximum height of 185 metres from ground to blade tip. It is intended that the development will support Bord na Móna’s decarbonisation strategy which has a focus on expanding the existing low-carbon business operations.

Detailed copies of the planning application, the Environmental Impact Assessment Report, and Natura Impact Statement may be viewed at the following locations during public opening hours for a period of eight weeks commencing on February 4th, 2019:

  • Kenagh Co-op, Kenagh, Co. Longford, N39 V8X6

The application will also be available for inspection at the following locations:

  • Offices of Longford County Council, Great Water St. Longford
  • Offices of An Bord Pleanála, 64 Marlborough St, Rotunda, Dublin 1

Bord na Móna’s Community Liaison Officer is currently visiting homes within the area of the proposed development to inform them of the submission and to provide them with details on where they can view the application.
