Bord na Móna welcomes Midlands jobs announcement

Bord na Móna welcomes the announcement by the Government of the Midlands Action Plan for Jobs, which is aimed at delivering 10-15% employment growth in the region over the coming years.

Representing Bord na Móna at the announcement in Tullamore, Head of Land and Property Gerry Ryan said, “Bord na Móna has a long history of underpinning economic activity in communities across the region. The company continues to employ over 2,000 people and is pursuing a diversification strategy aimed at ensuring Bord na Móna continues to be a major employer in the Midlands to 2030 and beyond.

“Bord na Móna is extremely proud of Lough Boora Discovery Park and the benefits it brings to regional tourism. The announcement regarding new cycling, walking and other recreational trails will add a further boost to a sector that we are actively considering further initiatives in. The announcement also chimes well with our longstanding connections with education providers in the region and our work in developing the region’s energy assets and infrastructure.”
