Bord na Móna to extend range of products to customers
Following from the launch of its Sustainability2030 report yesterday Bord na Móna is today focusing on some of the products and services that will sustain it into the future. CEO Mike Quinn said “The move towards a sustainable future will involve continuing to supply many of our existing product ranges while using our new sustainable business operations to provide new product choices.”
The company’s Fuels business will continue to supply the iconic peat briquette to its customers but is also developing new lower Carbon, low smoke fuels many of which will use the company’s new supply of biomass.
Speaking today on the plans to expand the company’s product range, Bord na Móna Head of Fuels Eddie Scaife said “This is about giving our customers more choice. The peat briquette is a staple fuel for many people and we will continue to provide this to our customers. We are also developing new products including a biomass briquette and high quality, smokeless coal and bio-mass enhanced ‘ovoids’ that we will bring to the market in the coming fuel seasons. The intention is that as we develop these and other low Carbon and low smoke products we will extend our range of offerings that will become valued features of the Irish fireside”.
The company’s Horticulture business will also continue to supply its high quality peat products but will also use biomass. Head of Horticulture Gerry O Hagan said, “Our customers are increasingly choosing new products with increased biomass diluents. We will continue to provide high quality products whether that be our traditional offerings or new product ranges to meet all these demands.”
