Biomass Operative

Our Renewable Energy Business Unit currently has an opening for a permanent Biomass Operative. The role will be based in Edenderry and will report to the Biomass Yard Supervisor. The role is as part of the Biomass Team at Edenderry which involves ensuring deliveries of Biomass to Edenderry Power are handled safely and efficiently, in addition to the stockpiling, mixing and delivery of the material to the intake hopper, reporting of any issues with intake to EPL control room and removal of screened out materials to Stockpile area.
The successful candidate will be responsible of the management of the weighbridge ensuring deliveries of Biomass to Edenderry Power are recorded correctly on the Inventory System, including key pieces of information such as Supplier, Product, Sustainability, weights and Bucket Numbers. The administrator must also ensure the efficient processing of deliveries and provide accurate instruction on delivery location, proactively dealing with queries from hauliers maintaining a rapport with all suppliers, providing feedback if required to management on supplier performance related issues.
The main duties and responsibilities of the role will include the following:
- Machinery Operation must have competency on wheeled loading shovels in busy environments where vigilance is required to ensure safety of all site operatives is adhered to. Must have competency on Tracked excavators and ability to safely handle such equipment working on stockpiles, must have competency on tractors with Ejector trailers;
- Weighbridge Operations. Goods inwards, Dockets, organise and facilitate the steady flow of traffic on site. Deal with queries promptly and efficiently;
- Communication with colleagues on vehicle movements, to ensure traffic is directed to the appropriate area, providing cover for other on site staff from time to time;
- Knowledge of Power Plant Biomass Quality requirements, cleanliness, (Presence of Foreign Materials), product size, moisture etc.;
- Flexibility in working hours, potentially including night working;
- All employees are expected to co-operate fully with all provisions taken by the company for ensuring Health and Safety, and Welfare of co-employees and members of the public using the premises;
- Proactively participate in the Performance Management process to ensure delivery of own, and the wider team’s, objectives;
The Person:
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualification, skills, knowledge and attributes:
- Minimum of 5 years working in a similar role, understanding of Biomass Supply Operations;
- Good communication skills;
- High competency in wheeled loader and tracked excavator operations;
- Experience of the Biomass Operations at Edenderry Power would be a key advantage;
- Plant operation;
- Flexibility;
