Commercial Solicitor

The commercial solicitor will proactively assist the Commercial Lead in the provision of legal services for the operational assets, strategic projects, business development, transactions and general business activities and projects. The successful candidate will also support the business in the provision of general legal advice and services to facilitate the achievement of its commercial and strategic goals.

The main duties and responsibilities of the role will include the following:

  • Work with the Commercial Lead to manage the legal elements of strategic projects and transactions to deliver the project or transaction in line with the Business objectives. 
  • Provide legal support to the business as required including general commercial, planning and environmental, large infrastructure and professional services contracts.
  • Provide expert legal advice on projects including renewable energy projects, including wind, solar, and other sustainable technologies, to ensure compliance with Irish and EU regulations.
  • Advise the business on legal issues affecting all aspects of their commercial and operational activities and recommend appropriate courses of action and provide clear legal advice. 
  • Take a proactive role in finding solutions to overcome obstacles and in the management and mitigation of risks. Actively advise in the negotiation of key commercial contracts and transactions.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements. Support the development and financing of renewable energy projects by advising on legal and regulatory requirements, environmental assessments, and permitting processes.
  • Advise on planning and environmental, employment and non property related litigation.
  • All employees are expected to co-operate fully with all provisions taken by the company for ensuring Health and Safety, and Welfare of co-employees and members of the public using the premises
  • Proactively participate in the Performance Management process to ensure delivery of own, and the wider team’s, objectives.

The Person:

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualification, skills, knowledge and attributes:

  • Qualified Solicitor or Barrister, experience in the Renewable Energy industry an advantage
  • Four years post qualification experience required
  • Mid/top tier firm or in house role; experience in energy related matters or large infrastructure projects and commercial contracts are an advantage
  • Professional Subscription an advantage (Law Society of Ireland or Kings Inn)
  • Career evidence of excellence in team working, personal integrity and operational excellence.MS Office Suite – familiarity with Legal Case Management Systems an advantage, good organizational and administration skills, ability to work on his/her own initiative
