Wind Farm Operation Controller

Our Renewable Energy Business Unit currently has an opening on a permanent basis for an Operation Controller. The role will be based at Mount Lucas Wind Farm and will report to the RES Asset Manager. Wind farms are maintained by a small team of technicians reporting to Maintenance Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for achieving challenging maintenance, engineering, commercial, safety, environmental, quality and personal development targets.

The main duties and responsibilities of the role will include the following:

  • Ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operation of our energy producing portfolio (Wind, Solar and Battery);
  • Provide transfer of control of equipment under Wind Turbine Safety Rules (WTSR);
  • Remotely respond to alarms to maximise energy capture and minimise outages;
  • Monitor SCADA & weather systems to ensure safe operating conditions;
  • Produce daily / monthly/ annual reports for each operating asset
  • An understanding of power generation principles or heavy plant operation;
  • Experience of working with safe systems of work;
  • Ensure safety documentation is updated; 
  • Work overtime as and when required; 
  • Option of blended working;
  • Progress the ongoing development of the Maintenance team through good communication, involvement and teamwork;
  • Lead and promote a culture of Health and safety and ensure compliance with safe systems of work for employees and contractors. All employees are expected to co-operate fully with all provisions taken by the company for ensuring Health and Safety, and Welfare of co-employees and members of the public using the premises;
  • Proactively participate in the Performance Management process to ensure delivery of own, and the wider team’s, objectives;

The Person:

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualification, skills, knowledge and attributes:

  • Degree in electrical, mechanical, Science or an IT discipline;
  • 2 years’ experience in a similar role;
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages;
