Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) is core to us and our purpose is to create and provide an environment where colleagues bring their whole self to work. We recognise and understand the importance as we strive to nurture a culture of diversity, inclusion, mutual respect, and equal opportunities for colleagues. We are focused on incorporating EDI in all aspects of employee life cycle including recruitment and selection, training and development, performance and talent management.
- We actively celebrate our diverse talent throughout the year by hosting annual events such as International Women’s Day, International Men’s Day, Pride, Mental Health Day, Menopause Day and International Day of Disabled Person’s.
- We have an established EDI Steering group which plays a key role in communicating our colleagues’ views, any ongoing company developments within the EDI space internally and inputting in the design, development and implementation of the EDI strategy at Bord na Móna.
- Our Mental Health Ambassador Employee Resource Group (ERG) now has 15 active members that promote wellness in the space of mental health and are available to support colleagues struggling with no judgement.
- In addition, we have recently launched our Beyond Limits Disability Awareness ERG. Our members are volunteers, allies, carers and people with disabilities. The mandate of Beyond Limits is to foster an inclusive and supportive workplace environment, that empowers employees with disabilities by advocating for accessibility, raising awareness and promoting career development and growth opportunities.
- All Employee Resource Groups are comprised of colleagues from across the organisation and reflect the workforce that exists in Bord na Móna today.
- Inclusive Leadership training has been rolled out to line managers and employees in the organisation. The Senior Leadership Team at Bord na Móna have also completed the training and are fully committed to embedding EDI within the business. Additionally, other EDI training is frequently scheduled such as Disability Awareness and Bias & Behaviour training.
- We are engaged with the Irish Centre for Diversity (ICFD) in maintaining our Silver standard accreditation.
- In celebration of EU Diversity month, on 27th May 2021, we signed the Diversity Charter Ireland. We are delighted to have over 29 different nationalities currently working in Bord na Móna, further showing our commitment to EDI.
