Dominant Dublin win Bord na Móna O'Byrne Cup
Over 3,500 people converged on Drogheda on Sunday for the final of the Bord na Móna O’Byrne Cup between Louth and a new look Dublin side.
Dublin, heading for their ninth title emerged victorious by a score of 2-16 to 1-10.
2017 saw the extension of the sponsorship between Bord na Móna and Leinster GAA for a further three years of the Bord na Móna O’Byrne Cup
Conditions were difficult in front of the large crowd with Louth putting Dublin under considerable pressure during the early stages of the game. A turbo-charged spell either side of half-time from the boys in blue saw them kick 10 points to no reply and even in the ragged, occasionally scrappy closing stages, they had the presence of mind to finish the job with a couple of beautifully crafted goals.
Paddy Rowland of Bord na Móna presented Niall Scully from the Dublin team with a well-deserved man of the match award for his outstanding display in the final.
This sponsorship began in 2012 and saw Bord na Móna become the first title sponsor in the competitions long history and continues our strong association with the GAA.
