Where possible, we’re restoring raised bogs to their natural state. Bogs that are unsuitable for restoration are rehabilitated into diverse, new habitats.
Working with nature to protect our peatlands
We’re restoring and rehabilitating Ireland’s bogs to help meet climate and biodiversity goals.
Our bogs can store 100 million tonnes of carbon. They are central to our climate action plans.
Irish peatlands are home to over 900 species of plants and animals.
We protect biodiversity so that nature can protect us
The greater the variety of lifeforms that we conserve, the more secure all life on Earth will be. Protecting bogs protects biodiversity.
